Our client is a well known systems security and network provider. They plays a strategic role in enabling secure and high-performance connectivity, cloud solutions, and cybersecurity frameworks.

They are located near central station in Brussels. 

The Information Security Engineer will support and maintain the organization's security infrastructure, ensure optimal functioning of security systems, investigate security incidents, and provide technical support related to cybersecurity tools and processes. Collaborating closely with operational teams and end-users, this role ensures compliance with the security policy and mitigates potential threats.

Job description

  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot security tools (e.g., firewalls, antivirus, SIEM, IDS/IPS).

  • Respond to and investigate security alerts, incidents, and vulnerabilities.

  • Provide technical support to internal users and IT teams for security-related issues.

  • Advise and assist with implementing and enforcing security policies, standards, and best practices.

  • Conduct routine security checks and system audits to identify risks or weaknesses.

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on configurations, incidents, and security procedures.

  • Work closely with system and network administrators to ensure secure system configurations.

  • Support compliance initiatives and audits (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).

Required experience

Educational Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with at least 3 years of experience in information security.

Technical and Core Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of network and system administration principles.

  • Hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools (e.g., firewalls, antivirus, SIEM).

  • Solid understanding of security protocols, threats, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Experience with incident response and vulnerability management.

  • Ability to analyze logs and troubleshoot security-related issues.

  • Effective communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Assets

  • Relevant certifications preferred: CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, or equivalent.

  • Programming/scripting experience (e.g., Bash, Python, Django, JavaScript).

  • Native Dutch speaker with excellent knowledge of French and English.
